Founded in 1744 and once the capital of Albemarle County, Scottsville is a hidden gem tucked along the James River in Central Virginia. Its history runs deep – from its role in Virginia’s canal era to Civil War lore – and today it’s home to vibrant small businesses, family-run wineries, and one of the most picturesque riverfronts in the state.
The festival takes place at Canal Basin Square, an open-air museum and park built on the original canal turning basin. It’s a scenic, historic space surrounded by charming brick storefronts and views of the river. There’s no better place to raise a glass during Virginia Wine Month.
