Do you remember the ‘Talkboy’?
The Talkboy was incredibly popular because of Home Alone 2. In the film, Kevin (Macaulay Culkin) used the portable cassette device to record himself. You can rewind, fast forward, play, record, and there was even a slow playback option. It also came with a built in mic device that made it look so cool.
It was one of the best gifts I ever received, and it lasted all of three days. (The toy really was a piece of crap). That was Christmas 1993.
According to livngly.com, the cabbage patch kids were the most popular toy in 1983, the year I was born. Those guys had a pretty nice run in the 80s and 90s (Is there any kid that wants a cabbage patch kid for Christmas in 2016?)
It’s also hard to believe that an 8-year old can read this and say that the Nintendo Wii was the most popular toy in the year they were born! I remember finding the last one at Walmart in Charlottesville. Needless to say, it was a LONG walk to my car that night!
