I’ve had this urge to check out locally owned coffee shops in the area. In honor of National Coffee Day, I figured now would be a good time to tell you about some of the places I’ve visited. Feel free to comment with your own favorites too!
1.) Shenandoah Joe Coffee – Selfishly, this place is great because it’s a quick walk from my house. I’ve been able to take advantage of the fun atmosphere here by giving back:
2.) Grit Coffee Bar and Cafe – You can visit either location, the Downtown Mall or Crozet, and still get the same type of hospitality atmosphere. The people who work here treat you like you’re a guest in someone’s home. Be prepared to eat, and drink a beer while you’re here too!
3.) Green House Coffee – Small, intimate atmosphere. If you’re looking for a some-what secluded and quiet place to work, this is the place to do it. When I ordered a large coffee, I felt like I was drinking a bucket of coffee, which made me quite pleased.
4.) Java Java Downtown – Conveniently located in the middle of, well, everything. I usually stop here while I’m walking on the Downtown Mall. They specialize in the best organic coffee and teas.
5.) Staunton Coffee and Tea – I don’t usually drink espresso, but when I visited Staunton Coffee and Tea, I went ahead and got a cup. Thankfully, I didn’t regret it. The warm cup of pure, bounce off the wall energy was on point and exactly what I needed. Because of my crazy early schedule, I’m usually a zombie by 2PM. I was ready to take on the world after an afternoon at Staunton Coffee!
I know there are TONS of places that I’m missing here, only because I haven’t visited them all. Do you have any other suggestions? Feel free to comment!
