The current Government shutdown is the longest in modern U.S. history, here are a few local businesses that are offering to help Government workers during this time.
Great Harvest Bread Company – All Federal Government employees that have been Furloughted or working without pay (TSA), workers can show ID and receive a free sandwich.
Violet Crown Cinema in Charlottesville – Offering free matinee movies Monday-Thursday if you are a furloughed federal employee with ID.
Alamo Drafthouse Cinema – Offering federal employees free movies throughout the month of January to ‘help cure the Government shutdown blues’. The free tickets are available Mondays through Thursdays when they present a federal ID at the box office. (USA Today)

First Colony Winery Charlottesville – Federal employees and contractors can get special discounts when they show their government ID until the end of the shutdown.
